External Devices
You should turn on all your external hardware before starting SkookumLogger, and stop SkookumLogger before turning external hardware off. That allows SkookumLogger to keep track of which devices you are using and manage them for you at startup.
You manage devices in windows listed in the Window ▶ External Devices ▶ menu. Some windows have a Type chooser when more than one kind of a class of devices (for, example, different radios) is supported. Windows that access devices using the RS232 serial protocol have Port choosers for selecting the serial port for the device and an Enable checkbox for starting and stopping communication with the device. Windows that access devices using the TCP network protocol have a Settings… button in place of the Port chooser.
Some external devices identify themselves when plugged in and turned on. SkookumLogger doesn’t need choosers or an Enable checkbox for them. The YCCC SO2R Box and the XK-24 Keypad examples of these devices.
