Getting Started
Set up your Cabrillo defaults in the Cabrillo pane of New Log preferences.
Set up your sent exchange defaults in the Sent Exchange pane of New Log preferences.
Choose File ► New Log… to create a new log .
Optionally, but highly recommended: configure your radio .
System Preference Recommendations
Turn off the Close windows when quitting an app option in the General pane, so that SkookumLogger will open your most-recently-open log at startup.
Turn on the Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys option in the Keyboard tab in the Keyboard pane, so that you don’t need to hold the fn key while tapping a function key to transmit SkookumLogger messages. Also review the settings in the Shortcuts tab if you discover a collision with default SkookumLogger shortcuts.
If you use two displays with SkookumLogger, turn off the Displays have separate spaces option in the Mission Control pane, so that open windows will be positioned as you left them across SkookumLogger restarts.
System Setting (macOS 13 Ventura) Recommendations
The Close windows when quitting an application option is located in Desktop & Dock settings, within the Windows & Apps group. Turn this off so that SkookumLogger will open your most-recently-open log at startup.
The Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys option is buried in Keyboard settings. Click the Keyboard Shortcuts… button, then choose Function Keys in the sidebar. Turn this off so that you don’t need to hold the fn key while tapping a function key to transmit SkookumLogger messages. While there, review the shortcuts in the other sidebar items, and define shortcuts for SkookumLogger in the App Shortcuts sidebar item.
The Displays have separate Spaces option is located in Desktop & Dock settings, with in the Mission Control group. If you use two displays with SkookumLogger, turn this off so that open windows will be positioned as you left them across SkookumLogger restarts.
If you prefer the Dark system appearance, experiment with the effect of the Increase contrast option in the Display group of system Accessibility settings.
